What paint correction fixes
- Swirl marks — the fine circular scratches you see in sunlight, usually from automatic car washes or dirty towels.
- Light scratches and scuffs that sit in the clear coat.
- Dull, hazy or oxidised paint that has lost its gloss.
- Water spots and light etching from hard water or bird droppings that weren’t removed quickly.
What it can’t fix
Paint correction works by removing a very thin layer of clear coat to level out defects. If a scratch has gone through the clear coat to the colour or primer — a good test is whether it catches your fingernail — polishing can soften how it looks but won’t remove it. Those need touch-up or panel repair. We’ll always tell you honestly what’s achievable before we start.
Our paint correction process
- Wash & decontaminate. A full wash, then a clay bar to remove bonded contamination so we’re polishing clean paint.
- Inspect. We check the paint under good light and agree on the target finish with you.
- Machine polish. A machine polisher and compound/polish matched to your paint to remove the defects.
- Protect. Freshly corrected paint should be protected — add carnauba wax (from $60) to lock in the gloss.
